R. I. P. Maxine Jewett

Arizona lost a special person Sunday night. Maxine was an icon in the valley, who, though she didn’t play an instrument herself–couldn’t, in fact–supported the efforts of musicians all over the valley with her contributions to the folk music community. Founder of the Southwest Acoustic Music Association, she was a true friend to the people who sing and play at festivals all over Arizona, including myself. She will be greatly missed. Thank you, Maxine, for all you did, and for being you.

I’m sorry but I don’t have a picture of her to post.
